For the purposes of providing virtual care, family doctors, community specialists, and other health care providers’ zoom licenses will be automatically renewed free-of-charge for an extra year. The Doctors Technology Office (DTO) and the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) announced the renewal so you can access free Zoom for Healthcare licenses and provide strong virtual care services until August 21st, 2022.

If you already have a license, it will automatically be renewed. If you’d like to start using Zoom for Healthcare free-of-charge, you can find information on the Doctors of BC website.

Virtual health visits since the pandemic are rising in popularity, up to 20,000 a week. According to a recent survey, patients in BC are highly satisfied with virtual health visits, reporting easier and quicker access to care, the inclusion of family members, and no time or costs spent on travel.

Over 1,500 free Zoom for Healthcare licenses have been provided to BC doctors by DTO and PHSA in order to support the growth of virtual health visits. DTO provides continuous virtual care support to doctors including:

  • Webinars on topics like setting up virtual care, virtual group medical visits, and best practices for virtual care exams. Of the 1,750 doctors and clinic team member participants, 94% found these webinars valuable or very valuable.
  • New digital resources, guides, and videos for care providers that were accessed over 6,300 times during the pandemic.
  • Support services provided by DTO and the Practice Support Program coaches to support practices in implementing and improving virtual care. As of now, coaches have supported more than 860 requests and 300 practice facilitation cycles to enable and optimize virtual care delivery.

Under COVID circumstances, patients and physicians alike can benefit from virtual care thanks to Zoom. If you have any questions about the zoom license renewal, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team for help.
